January 25th 2008 – Egypt was unable to seal its border with Gaza as Palestians continue to stream across for the third straight day in search of food and supplies. Israel has been trying to cut off Gaza from the world to help bring an end to rocket attacks coming from there.

January 24th 2008 – Thousands of Palestinians are streaming out of Gaza into Egypt as Israel hammers their country. Israel is trying to stop rocket attacks from Gaza.

Israeli tanks have pushed deep into Gaza. It was the first such operation in two months and the first since Bush met with Israeli and Palestinian leaders two weeks ago.
Hamas took over Gaza in June. Israel and America are talking not to Hamas but to the Fatah party about creating a Palestinian state.

Hoping to create a Palestinian state that can live a peace alongside Israel, Bush today talks to president Abbas of the Palestinian Authority and prime minister Olmert of Israel. Also there are Syria and Saudi Arabia, whose help will be needed to create a lasting peace.
Little is expected to come out of these talks, but Bush hopes they lead to other talks that will end in peace between the Israeli and Palestinians before he leaves office early in 2009.
